VOTE for
A LOCAL PARTY IN THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION!
Many significant political decisions are taken at the municipal
level where the local authorities have responsibility for: the quality
and extent of child care, the schools, the care of the elderly,
street cleaning, park maintenance, planning for housing and streets
and, of course, determination of the amount of municipal taxes.
That so many and such important aspects of our everyday life is
decided at municipal level is easy to forget if you listen to the
large, national political parties in their election campaigns. Make
a real stand for Stockholm in the municipal election!

STOCKHOLMSPARTIET WANTS:
--to maintain the road pricing system in Stockholm

--to increase local influence in politics
--to ensure that there is order in our schools
--to facilitate the establishment of independent schools and day
care centres
--to increase resources to the pre-schools
--to make the commuter train system work better
--to invest in the Kulturskolan
--to fight against racism and hostility towards foreigners
--to have more libraries open at night and on the weekends
--to conserve our local history and old homestead museums in the

remain in their homes
--build several group apartment houses for the handicapped
--protect even small green areas in the city-create local parks

Stockholmspariet was founded in 1979 as a protest movement against
the demolition of historical/cultural buildings, against increased
car traffic in the city, against the "standard solutions" of the
establishment and against the lack of local democratic involvement.
Since then Stockholmspartiet has played an important and influential
role in the political life of the city.
Stockholmspartiet is small but, in spite of this, has been successful
with its political program. Only during the last seven years we
have succeeded in ensuring
--that several thousand apartments were built in the city
- -that the transportation of LPG via Vallhallavägen was discontinued
--that bicycle paths were established on the majority of the city's
major streets
--that the oil transportation at Loudden is being terminated
--that Årstafältet became a county park
--that street cleaning "experts" were established for all parts
of the city
--that the mountain railway in Skärholmen was completed
--that residence in boats along the city's docks is allowed
--that the parking garage Elefanten was torn down and replaced with
apartments
--that Nynäsvägen will be routed into a tunnel in Gamla Enskede
--that the City of Stockholm District Councils have received increased
responsibility for the physical environment
--that no parking garages were built under Tegnerlunden and Humlegården
--that Nackareservat became a real nature reserve!
--that local ferries once again provide transport within the city
--that the youth clubs and recreation centres have been preserved
and have received more resources and much more.
